You can start drawing at home with very little equipment. The goal is to make a simple routine that is easy to repeat.
Step 1: Prepare a small drawing space Choose a table with comfortable lighting. Keep your paper, pencils, eraser, and sharpener within reach.
Step 2: Warm up with lines Spend five minutes drawing straight lines, curves, circles, and simple boxes. This helps your hand become more controlled.
Step 3: Draw simple objects Start with objects around you: a cup, bottle, leaf, book, spoon, or small plant. Focus on the overall shape instead of tiny details.
Step 4: Practice light and dark Use HB for lighter marks and softer pencils such as 2B or 4B for darker areas. Try creating a gradual value scale from light to dark.
Step 5: Add one small challenge Each day, choose one new subject. It could be a flower, tree, mountain, house, or sunset.
Step 6: Save your drawings Date your sketches. After a few weeks, compare old and new drawings. This makes progress easier to see.
A simple 20-minute routine - 5 minutes: line and shape warm-up - 10 minutes: one simple object - 5 minutes: shading and finishing
You do not need to finish a perfect drawing every day. Consistent practice is the important part.
