When you want to draw but cannot decide what to draw, start with simple subjects that are easy to find around you.
- A single flower
- A leaf collection
- A cup or mug
- A simple house
- A tree silhouette
- A mountain landscape
- A sunrise
- A sunset
- A bicycle
- A small still-life arrangement
Turn one idea into several drawings For example, a flower can become: - a pencil outline - a shaded graphite study - a colored-pencil drawing - a simple vector-style illustration - a silhouette
This is a useful way to practice the same subject with different techniques.
Beginner challenge Choose one subject and draw it for 10 minutes every day for one week. Do not worry about making each version identical. Concentrate on observation and control.
IMAGE PLACEMENT: Add a collage of 3–5 of your own beginner drawings here.
Use an original photo, drawing, painting, or video still created by you.
